Sinn Fein to meet Trust over ‘Daisy Hill rumours’
A Sinn Fein delegation is to meet with the Southern Trust tomorrow (Tuesday) to address a number of concerns about Daisy Hill Hospital and healthcare in general across the constituency.
MP Mickey Brady will join MLAs Conor Murphy and Megan Fearon to meet with Paula Clarke, Chief Executive of the Trust.
Brady said that a number of issues were on the agenda including recent rumours about Daisy Hill Hospital. “There is a lot of serious concern out there regarding rumours about Daisy Hill’s Emergency Department and how that will impact on the overall viability of the hospital and that will be top of the agenda,” he said.
“The first thing to do is to establish definitively if there is any truth to them and go from there.
“However, we will at all times be stressing our central position which is that Daisy Hill is an essential part of this community and that we will strenuously oppose any downgrading of services or attempts to make it a less viable or central facility,” he added.
