Two women arrested following Newry drugs seizure
Two women, both aged 23, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of class A, B and C controlled drugs and possession of class A, B and C controlled drugs with intent to supply following the seizure of drugs in the Newry area on the evening of Wednesday 20th May.
At approximately 6.15pm, police carried out a planned search of a house in the Richmond Court area.
A quantity of cash and drugs in tablet, liquid, powder and resin form were seized and the two women were arrested.
Chief Inspector Davy Beck told Newry Times, “At this early stage, the intitial estimated value of the seized drugs is thought to be about £10,000.
“Local police are working hard to keep people safe in the area and this operation shows that where we suspect criminality is taking place, we will act proactively and decisively.
“I would appeal to anyone who has any information on drug misuse in the area to contact Ardmore Police Station on the non emergency number 101.
He added, “Or if you would prefer to provide information without giving your details, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
