INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL RETAIL MANAGER

Description: International Digital Retail Manager – Identify and develop market specific trading strategies to achieve short and long term growth objectives

The Rug House Ltd. is a leading online business selling rugs and other homewares throughout the UK, Ireland and internationally. We are a family run business with many years’ experience trading in home furnishings and we have recently opened our first retail showroom in Newry with our website due for re-launch in January 2015.

Having recently won three prestigious business awards (including two for exporter of the year) and doubled staffing levels to 25 in the last two years we are growing rapidly and wish to further expand our international portfolio and grow international sales.

To assist with this we are seeking a retail development manager to develop and implement an international sales strategy in conjunction with the directors and other departments. You will be responsible for maximising the online potential of The Rug House international websites by improving sales and margin performance and identifying opportunities for growth.

The Role:
– Identify and develop market specific trading strategies to achieve short and long term growth objectives
– Provide guidance and implementation of international trading, merchandising and online marketing strategies
– Undertake practical implementation of strategies
– Recognise and report international trading limitations such as availability, trading laws, platform functionality, system and process issues
– Work closely with in-house departments and 3rd party service providers to ensure strategies are successfully implemented
– Conduct regular in-depth analysis of performance per market and implement changes when necessary to ensure KPIs are achieved (both sales and service KPIs)
– Produce reports and provide feedback on market performance to directors
– Ability to prepare, implement and analyse strategies for a wide range of online trading aspects such as merchandising, landing pages, products, promotional messaging, SEO, PPC, email, social, mobile, content, user experience, conversion rate optimisation, analytics, testing, functional website enhancements, market research, insights and competitor analysis delivering succinct, meaningful insights and actionable data
– Assist with the recruitment of additional members of the international sales team
– Deliver operational training and guidance to other staff members in order to implement strategies

Person Specification:
– Strong operational experience in international markets
– Excellent commercial and functional knowledge of trading via an online business
– Knowledge and experience in all digital retail platforms
– Trading mentality – able to work at pace, drive results and evaluate success
– Retail/Management qualifications are desirable
– Online marketing experience/qualifications are desirable
– Customer focused
– Strong web analytics skills e.g. Google analytics
– Problem solving skills – ability to identify problems quickly and use own creativity to propose actionable solutions
– Ability to influence at all levels within the business with strong inter-personal and communication skills
– Be able to work independently and apply common sense under pressure
– Driven for results, with an ability to identify and prioritise actions to deliver them

Salary is very competitive.

HOME TEXTILES DESIGNER:

Due to continuing growth we require a textile designer to help design our own homeware collections with focus being primarily on rugs but also on other homewares such as cushions, blankets, bedding and curtains.

Originality combined with a retail understanding is crucial to our business and we are looking for an inspired designer who can create original textile designs with a strong brand style.

The Role:
– Working in conjunction with the directors and purchasing department, you will be responsible for the entire creative design of our own rug collections and other homewares
– Responsible for building directional, trend led ranges, identifying new designs, colours, materials and finishes seasonally
– Assist in the research of new product opportunities by monitoring customer and market activities
– Assist in trend prediction or upcoming seasons
– Attending trade shows where appropriate in order to source and appoint appropriate suppliers
– Assist with initial stage quality checks when products are delivered
– Work with colleagues to analyse feedback from partners & customers, monitor sales and identify the best-selling pieces, to ensure all products exceed customer expectations and maximise sales and profit potential
– Understand manufacturing techniques and materials in textile production (specifically rugs)

Person Specification:
– Textile design qualification is essential
– Experience designing for retail is desirable
– An eye for detail with an excellent understanding of colour, design and material appropriate for retail
– Strong portfolio or proven experience of producing creative, commercially viable designs within a retail environment
– Awareness of customers’ needs making decisions with them in mind
– Ability to think on a creative and strategic level ensuring product designs are suitable for mass retail
– Ability to carry out and analyse customer, market and competitor research
– Broad understanding of UK & International Home retail market activities
– Ability to influence at all levels within the business with strong inter-personal skills
– Ability to work independently and take ownership of processes
– Software skills required : AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

PURCHASING MANAGER

The Role:
– Devise clear purchasing policies and supplier specifications
– Source, negotiate and manage international suppliers, dealing with their representatives and visiting trade fairs where appropriate
– Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers and assist with supplier contract documents
– Establish and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers
– Measure supplier performance and drive continuous improvement
– Manage long lead times and very seasonal products through advanced forecasting and ordering
– Assure a robust production plan is in place to ensure products are delivered on time and on spec
– Co-ordinate the quality checks of incoming products and liaise with suppliers if problems arise

– Have an input on the designs, colourings and materials of products ordered

– Strong sourcing and purchasing background is essential
– Excellent organisational skills with strong ability to manage personal workload
– Excellent computer skills including accurate data entry, word processing and excel work sheets
– Maintain quality in fast paced pressurised environment
– Excellent attention to detail, spot issues and quickly finding solutions
– Common sense approach to all tasks
– Be driven for results – proactive and energetic, with unerring focus on delivering long term performance goals and continual improvement
– Experience in the purchasing of homeware goods is desirable
– Purchasing qualifications are desirable
