Santa visits Irish speaking families in Newry
On Saturday 13th December 2014 Daidí na Nollag (Santa) will be visiting Gaelarás Mhic Ardghail in Newry to meet children and their parents in the Newry area who have chosen Irish as the language of their home.
The event has been organised and sponsored by Glór na nGael, the national organisation which supports Irish-speaking families.
Áinín Ní Eachaidh, development officer for Glór na nGael says, “This is a very exciting time for Irish speakers who have chosen Irish-medium education and to raise their children through Irish.
“Not only is the Irish-medium education sector going from strength to strength and the number of families who speak Irish at home is ever-increasing, but organisations such as Glór na nGael are able to support children and their parents who speak Irish by providing high-quality Irish Language events such as this for families to socialise and enjoy themselves through the medium of Irish,” Áinín added.
Daidí na Nollag will arrive in the Gaelarás in Newry on the 13th December at 11am and there will be plenty going on; music, arts, crafts, a few festive nibbles and of course a chance to meet the man himself and receive a gift.
This is a family-orientated event so parents are welcome to come along. This event is suitable for children aged 3-10 and costs only £3 per child.
