Photography adventure for Slieve Gullion
Newry and Mourne District Council have teamed up with Enda Flynn to provide a free Heritage Photography Workshop on the 7th September 2013 starting at 10.00am in the Slieve Gullion Courtyard.
The workshop will provide help to anyone who is hoping to enter the Ring of Gullion Photo Competition.
Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion Officer said, “It’s great to get involved with Enda who specializes in environmental photography. His work has been published in newspapers, magazines, calendars brochures in Ireland and Britain. The workshop will be hands on and will enable the group to get out around Slieve Gullion and get tips on how to take the best photograph.
She added, “Who knows, we may get some potential winning photographs on the day. There is still time to get your entry in for the Ring of Gullion Photo Competition.
“The theme this year is “Our Heritage” which can include photos of the great buildings/ historical sites in the area, photos of the outstanding wildlife or a photo from some of the many cultural events hosted in the area. The most important criteria is that the photo must be taken in the Ring of Gullion area.”
The Workshop will give everyone involved a chance to take various photographs, using all the key features on the camera, and gain confidence in photography. All makes and models of cameras are welcome at this workshop and you will be part of a small friendly group of no more than 10 students.
Enda Flynn stated, “ I am planning to keep the workshop as practical as possible with a short and simple presentation to outdoor photography fundamentals, which will cover getting excellent photos of buildings, landscapes, people or wildlife. We will then move outside, where the group will get a chance to take their own photographs to help reinforce the basics.”
This workshop will involve going outside, please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the weather. This is a free event supported by Newry and Mourne District Council and Northern Ireland Environment Agency. Booking is essential. To book your place on the workshop visit www.ringofgullion.org and click on Whats on.
