Funding applications now available for Irish Summer Camps

Sinn Fein Councillor Colman Burns has advised that applications are now open for funding for suitable Irish language Summer Camps, through Foras Na Gaeilge.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Burns explained, “Irish Language Summer Camps are very popular throughout our District and are seen as a means of strengthening the Irish language through a range of fun activities, but, because they are specialised, they can be expensive to run.

“Foras Na Gaeilge funding is for Irish language camps that cater for young people from 3 to 18 years old. It is currently open for applications and will close at noon on the 8th March.”

Burns added, “While this funding is always welcome, it will not suit every Irish Summer camp. It is very important, therefore, that potential applicants read the criteria before filling in the application form.”
