Five arrested after Newry car rampage

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a number of incidents on roads around the city on Monday 28th January.

Newry’s Camlough Road

Between 9.20pm and 9.35pm a white coloured Nissan Zafira was struck by a maroon coloured Honda – which is believed to be an Accord model – on the Carnagat Road, approaching the junction of Camlough Road, and again on Camlough Road.

The Zafira was again struck by the Honda in the Derrybeg estate and spun round. The Zafira proceeded back on to Camlough Road, towards Newry City, with the Honda following.

The Zafira was again struck by the Honda as it approached the Camlough Road roundabout. As both vehicles entered the roundabout the Honda was in collision with a silver Volkswagen Polo which was extensively damaged.

The Honda and Zafira proceeded on to Edward Street, Newry, where the Honda turned and went back up the Camlough Road. Five males, aged 23, 26, 31, 32 and 32 years old, were arrested and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the vehicles at any stage of their journey to contact them in Ardmore on 0845 600 8000.
