Minister welcomes St Bronagh’s GAA vision

The Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure,Cáral Ní Chuilín and MLA Chris Hazzard recently paid a visit to St Bronagh’s GAA Club Rostrevor.

They were very impressed by the setup, the energy and forward thinking of the Committee, with the main focus of the evening on the promotion of Vision 2019.

Minister Cáral Ní Chuilín was hugely impressed with St Bronagh’s Vision 2019, stating that the plans included “facilities of the highest quality”.

The minister praised the ambition of the club and was delighted to see the inclusion of a walking track, a gym and an indoor sports hall, allowing St Bronagh’s to continue providing an excellent service to the local community.

Since the clubs creation in 1919, through the hard work and continuous support of their members, St Bronagh’s GAA has grown to become a thriving sporting and cultural organisation promoting Gaelic games and culture at the heart of Rostrevor’s community.

The Club has almost 600 members and accommodates 11 male and 3 female football teams which includes seven juvenile teams. Their football ground in Pettit Park plays host to thousands of young players every year.

As St Bronagh’s approaches their centenary in 2019, the Club’s vision is to continue to grow in membership and to provide state of the art sporting/training facilities to their local community and young gaels.

The successful ‘Friends of Rostrevor’ scheme is still available for 2012/13 and has become a lot more accessible and feasible during these hard financial times as payments can be set up to suit individual needs.
