Man, 29, arrested in Newry ‘dissident Republican’ investigation
Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch and officers from Newry Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted searches in the Derrybeg and Main Avenue areas today, Thursday, 29th November as part of an investigation into what they described as ‘dissident republican terrorist activity’.
A number of items were taken away for examination and a 29 year old man was arrested and taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
Speaking to Newry Times, Newry and Mourne Area Commander, Chief Inspector Davy Beck stated,
“I would like to thank the community for their support during these searches. You have asked us to tackle criminality in the local area and we will continue to do this to make Newry and Mourne a safer place to live.”

This was a politically motivated arrest of a young political activist who coincidently features quite regularly on this website highlighting matters that matter in the Newry area. How can they PSNII seriously say that they are arresting him for serious terrorist related offenses? Total nonsense.ated arreast.
