McGreevy hails ‘great response’ in Rostrevor for local business lady
SDLP Councillor Connaire McGreevy has congratulated Rostrevor business lady Mrs. Patricia Clements on being awarded the NI Business Woman of the Year 2012 award.
Newry Times exclusively revealed yesterday that Patricia scooped the prestigious award of ‘Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year’ for her work at Bradfor Ltd.
Based in Rostrevor, Patricia starting work at the age of 15. Her career began in the textiles industry with celebrities like Joan Collins wearing her locally-made tailored wear. She started making aircraft seat covers in the mid 1990s and now Bradfor Ltd employs almost 100 staff and supplies to major airlines across the world.
Patricia also received a place on Queen’s University of Belfast’s Business Leaders Programme.
Speaking about the reaction in the local community to Patricia’s success, the SDLP representative said,
“When the news reached the village last Friday morning that Mrs. Clements was presented with the very special award at a function in Belfast on Thursday night everyone was thoroughly delighted for the local lady and for her industrious staff in Bradfor Ltd.
“Many people that I have spoken with since then freely admitted that they were totally unaware that an enterprise employing almost one hundred people existed here on the periphery of the village. The award is a fitting tribute to the work put in by Mrs. Clements and her team down at Forestbrook.
“Since its formation in 1996 Bradfor Ltd has continually grown to reach the level it is at today.”
McGreevy added, “I offer my heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Clements and I compliment her and her workforce for the very positive image that the Rostrevor area has gained as result of the award coming to Bradfor Ltd.”
