Car fire leads to police discovery of 20 cannabis plants
Police in Newry have arrested a 43 year old man on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply after stopping a car on fire on the Belfast Road.
Around 1pm on Tuesday, 20th November, police on patrol stopped a car with a fire under the bonnet. While officers gave assistance they observed a quantity of cannabis in the front seat.
The driver was arrested and a subsequent search of a house was conducted, with twenty cannabis plants being seized.
The 43 year old was released pending further enquiries and the investigation is ongoing.
