Man shot in both ankles in Ardcarne Park
A man has been rushed to hospital tonight after being shot in both ankles.
Newry Times understands that the 25 year old man is a member of the travelling community and he was attacked in the Ardcarne Park area of the city shortly before 9:00pm tonight.
The injured man was rushed to Daisy Hill Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
SDLP Assembly member for Newry and Armagh, Dominic Bradley condemned the shooting,
Speaking exclusively to Newry Times, Bradley stated,
“I totally condemn those responsible for this crime. No one has the right to take the law into their owns hands in so called ‘punishment shootings’ which by this time should be a thing of the past.
He added, “The police service is there to enforce the law and that has to be done in open court through evidence gathered.”
