Man arrested for 1983 Rostrevor murders is released
Police in Antrim have unconditionally released a man who earlier today was arrested over the murder of two police officers in 1983. The investigation into the murders of Sergeant Eric Brown, 41 and Constable Brian Quinn, 23 had been re-opened by the Historical Enquiries team.
The officers were shot and killed by the IRA when they approached a suspicious car outside a post office in Rostrevor nearly 29 years ago on the 6th of January 1983. The arrested man presented himself at Antrim Police Station earlier today and was subsequently released.
