Camlough Ploughing Championships a huge success
Last Saturday the inaugural Camlough Plough Competition took place and it proved to be an enjoyable spectacle for all who attended the event, organised jointly by the Camloch Heritage Society and the Clare Vintage Society in Tandragee.
The occasion was added to by the two teams of Clydesdale Horses and Ploughmen. It was a day of intense competition and the visiting judges had a stiff task selecting the winner.
Local Green Road man Oliver Malone was a popular and deserved overall winner and received his Trophy from Chairperson of Camloch Heritage Society Des Murphy.
Des thanked all those who had worked together to make it an enjoyable day. He praised in particular the Clare Vintage Society and the Judges who had given their time to the first ever Ploughing event in Camlough village.
There was also special mention for all those who had participated in the events and who had sponsored the day. Des wished them continued success and a safe journey home.
As part of the activities during the day the Camlough Strongman’s Competition took place. It attracted many spectators and the four finalists had to go through a series of demanding feats of strength, with overall winner being Erikas Jes. Well done to him and all who competed in the Competition.
