Drumilly School parking an accident waiting to happen, say Sinn Fein
Sinn Féin councillor Jimmy McCreesh recently attended a meeting convened at Drumilly Primary School to monitor the ongoing traffic chaos at school time.
Councillor McCreesh said; “The bus service was removed from Drumilly School some time ago and since then traffic problems have become much worse. This meeting was arranged for 8am so that those present could see first hand the absolute chaos which takes place as parents try to leave their children off to school. Representatives from Roads Service, the SELB, the Board of Governors and the PSNI all attended the meeting and for my own part I simply couldn’t believe the volume of traffic congregating at the school at this time.”
He continued; “Drumilly is a rural school situated on a country road. Once the bus was removed an estimated extra 30 children had to be dropped off to attend school. This means that on average approximately 50 cars converge on the school at the same time each day to drop pupils off. I am calling for the immediate reinstatement of the school bus so that children’s safety is not jeopardised in this manner again.”
