Local students support Marie Curie Cancer Care
At their meeting on 24th May, the Newry and Mourne Marie Curie Fundraising Group received a cheque for £2,882 from Aimée and Jarlath O’Reilly.
Having witnessed the excellent service provided to their late granny, Ann O’Reilly (Keady), Aimée and Jarlath set themselves a fundraising target of £1,000 and began planning how to achieve this. The students from Our Lady’s and St Paul’s organised street collections in Newry and Keady, hosted a cake sale, and along with their cousins Marty McKee and Michael McDermott, took part in the Belfast City marathon.
They also left collection boxes in McGrane’s shop in Keady, Lily’s Shop and Olive Restaurant, Newry. In the end they far exceeded their initial target. Aimée and Jarlath would like to thank all those who supported their fundraising efforts in both the Newry and Keady area.
