First Division League Champions Whitecross proved too strong for Clanrye Athletic in the semi final of the Gilmore Cup at Jennings Park on Saturday. Ally Bann was once again on top form as his brace helped Whitecross see off Clanrye 3-0. They will meet North End Strollers in the final this Friday (1st June) at Frank Curran Park.
The only Premier Division League game played on Saturday saw Ballybot finish off their season with a 3-1 defeat away to Kilkeel Athletic.
In the Father Davies Cup, Killeavy United got the better of a weakened Windmill Stars team in the semi-final at Frank Curran Park. First half strikes from leading marksman Anthony O’Hare and Robert Hempkin saw the 2010 beaten finalists run out 2-0 winners.
Bessbrook will take on Cleary Celtic in the quarter final tomorrow night (29th May). The winners of this tie will then face Killowen Celtic in the second semi final at Frank Curran Park this Saturday (2nd June).
Bessbrook’s busy fixture schedule continues this Thursday (31st May) when they lock horns with fierce local rivals Windmill Stars at Frank Curran Park. Both sides need all three points for a chance to win the league title outright. If Bessbrook draw, they must then win their last game with Newry Celtic which would force a play off.
