Louis McNally’s striking photograph of a fox captured locally celebrates the rich diversity of wildlife that thrives in Northern Ireland.

The image sits among 11 other breathtaking contributions from wildlife photographers across the region, showcasing the beauty of nature on our doorstep.

Reflecting on his picture, Louis says, “I have a great interest in all wildlife, and, in spring, I like to watch out for foxes and their cubs.

“I was delighted to get this photo as the fox stood just long enough for me to take the shot.”

Each year, sales of the calendar directly support Ulster Wildlife’s work to protect and restore Northern Ireland’s wildlife and wild places.

Vickie Chambers, Head of Fundraising & Communications at Ulster Wildlife, explains, “Nature is in crisis in Northern Ireland, with one in nine species at risk of extinction.

“By purchasing a calendar this festive season, you’re contributing to critical work that safeguards our local wildlife and habitats.”

She continues, “All profits go towards our conservation efforts – protecting 18 nature reserves, restoring fragile peatlands and boosting populations of vulnerable native species like barn owls, red squirrels, and hedgehogs.

“Last year, calendar sales raised nearly £2,000, thanks to the generosity of local people, providing a welcome boost for nature in Northern Ireland.”

The Ulster Wildlife 2025 calendar is available now for just £7.99 by clicking here.

Help bring nature back this Christmas – and enjoy 12 months of spectacular wildlife photography.
