PIPS Newry Celebrates £28,331 Raised Through Men’s Mental Health Camino Challenge | Newry News

PIPS Hope and Support has announced the incredible success of a recent fundraising initiative undertaken by 14 inspirational men who completed the French Way Camino to raise vital funds for suicide prevention and mental health services.

This remarkable effort has resulted in a phenomenal total of £28,331.06 raised, after costs, for PIPS Hope and Support.

The men were recognized for their outstanding achievement during a special presentation event held on Wednesday 9 October 2024, at The Canal Court Hotel, where friends, family, and PIPS representatives gathered to celebrate their success.

The dedicated participants included Anthony Madden, Sean Hollywood, Patrick Fox, Stephen McKnight, Patrick Darling, Shane Treanor, Christopher Evans, Ian Evans, Christopher O’Hanlon, Martin Fitzpatrick, Gareth Murphy, Ruairi Fitzpatrick, James Treanor, and Killian Fitzpatrick.

Speaking at the event, Padraig Harte, Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications Manager for PIPS Hope and Support, says, “We are incredibly grateful to these 14 extraordinary individuals for taking on such a challenging feat to support our cause.

“Their commitment and dedication not only raised vital funds but also heightened awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.

“The funds they’ve raised will go directly toward providing essential services to those in need in our community.”

 



 

A special acknowledgement was made to Shirley, whose tireless fundraising efforts were instrumental in the campaign’s success.

Padraig continues, “Shirley’s unwavering support and fundraising energy have been truly inspirational.

“She has been a constant source of encouragement for the men throughout this journey, and her contribution has been invaluable.”

The funds raised will directly support PIPS crisis counselling services, suicide prevention initiatives, and mental health outreach programmes, providing hope and support to vulnerable individuals in the local community.

“On behalf of everyone at PIPS Hope and Support, we extend our deepest thanks to Anthony, Sean, Patrick, Stephen, Shane, Christopher, Ian, Martin, Gareth, Ruairi, James, and Killian, and to the entire community whose generous support made this possible.
