The Newry City councillor says, “I’m glad to see planning approval being granted for the next phase of works to continue the Newry – Omeath greenway project.

“This approval will see the construction of a boardwalk to link both parts of the greenway, which are being worked on by the council locally and in the south by Louth County council.

“The project is funded through a cocktail of funding from SEUPB and DFI and represents a fantastic investment into this area.

“This is an exciting project that will help boost tourism, give a new green space for people to exercise outdoors that is friendly to both pedestrians and cyclists, as well as providing another cross-border link to our neighbours in Louth.

“With this planning permission secured, we need to see the council move rapidly, working with Louth County Council, to deliver this project as soon as possible.”
