‘British Government must cut fuel prices for drivers’ – Local MP Chris Hazzard | Newry News
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has told the British Chancellor his government should act now to cut rising fuel costs.
The South Down MP says, “The British Government must immediately cut the price of fuel which continues to rise and put people out of pocket.
“Figures show that petrol prices are up 13 pence per litre since July while diesel prices are up 17 pence per litre and have risen for the 12th week in a row.
“These increases are unaffordable for ordinary people, and while workers struggle to fill their car for work and parents struggle to leave their kids to school, large corporations continue to make extortionate profits from these prices.
“I have already written to the British Chancellor calling for him to act now and cut fuel costs.
“Today I am reiterating that call as workers and families are struggling with these successive increases in fuel.”
