Walking Bumps: Southern Trust launches new walking group for pregnant women | Newry News
The Southern Health and Social Care Trust antenatal team is running a new walking group ‘Walking Bumps.’
Launching in September, Walking Bumps is available for all pregnant women in the Southern area, giving mums-to-be the opportunity to be active, speak with maternity staff and make friends.
Gemma Winter, Antenatal Education Co-Ordinator Midwife says, “The antenatal walks are facilitated by maternity staff to give people the opportunity to talk to their healthcare provider outside of the clinical setting.
“Walking during pregnancy has many positive effects on physical health and mental wellbeing of both parent and baby.
“We hope these walks will give people the opportunity to meet new parents-to-be, and form friendships and connections.”
Upcoming walks:
Craigavon Lakes on Friday 15 September 6-8pm
Dungannon Park on Saturday 16 September 2-4pm
Newry Towpath on Saturday 23 September 2-4pm
Armagh Mall on Friday 22 September 6-8pm
The walks are suitable for everyone and free to join.
Future walks will be advertised in due course if our service users find the groups useful and helpful.
