The third annual Christmas Community Fund aims to support local charities and organisations.

The fund, which is currently sitting at £16,000k is open to all charities and organisations within a 15-mile radius of Warrenpoint Harbour, which supports the health, wellbeing, and environment of local people.

This year, more than ever, with the current cost of living crisis, this fund will provide a little extra to support organisations that may not get much help from elsewhere.

This year, with the current challenges, the criteria are slightly different.

The funding does not need to be spent within the Christmas period.

Those applying are encouraged to think ahead across the year to where they could utilise the funding.

It could be to support a spring activity, a summer scheme, or an event taking place later in the year.

David Holmes, CEO of Warrenpoint Harbour says, “We are thrilled to be bringing our Christmas Fund to the local community for the third year running.

“As ever we could not do this without the generous support of our customers and stakeholders including Seatruck, Combilift, Re-Gen, Ulster Bank, Seaforde Metals, ABL Group, Anthony D Bates Partnership, Davison Associates, Carlingford Lough Commission, FPM, Scotts Fuels, Armagh Logistics, Barry Haulage, Cunningham Haulage, King Communication and Board members, who have contributed into the fund.

“We want to extend the impact this year so that organisations are thinking ahead to where they may need support at any time across the next year.

“Over the past two years, we have provided more than £32,000 in funding to more than 50 different organisations.

“Every single project has been fantastic, from food hampers and vouchers for the most vulnerable to sweets and treats for younger children, afternoon teas for older people, sporting activities, charity work and some fun in between with karaoke machines and projector screens being high on the wish list last year.

“We hope that as many organisations as possible will benefit again this year.

“All we ask is for people to go onto our website, fill out the form and tell us in less than 200 words how you would use the funding to support the health, wellbeing, and environment of local people.”

David Holmes adds, “We look forward to receiving the suggestions by Friday 16th December and we will let the successful recipients know before Christmas.”
