Newry Fire: Man dies after house fire in Stream Street, Newry | Newry News Today
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has released a statement following the death of a man in a fire in Newry.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Assistant Chief Fire & Rescue Officer Aidan Jennings says, “The thoughts and sympathies of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) are with the family and friends of a man who died following a fire on Stream Street, Newry.
“On Monday 12 September at 8.18 pm, Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a terraced house on Stream Street, Newry.
“3 Fire Appliances attended the incident.
“2 from Newry and 1 from Warrenpoint.
“The fire was out when Firefighters arrived.
“And tragically a male casualty died as a result of the incident.
“The incident was dealt with by 11.05 pm.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition,” he adds.
