SDLP Health Spokesperson, Colin McGrath MLA has welcomed the announcement from Minister Swann that he has launched a consultation into statutory opt-out for organ donation.

The South Down MLA commented, “This is fantastic news.

 

 

“And I want to pay tribute to all those who campaigned so hard for this, mostly the courageous wee fighter Daithi Mac Gabhann and his family.

“They deserve a huge amount of credit for this movement.

“While there is a long way to go to achieve legislative change, this is a very positive step forward,” he continued.

 

 

“The Consultation will run for 10 weeks.

“And I encourage everyone to respond and have their say.

“I encourage everyone to use this news as an opportunity to have a life-saving conversation with your friends and family about your wishes if the worst should happen.
