Consumer Council obtains assurances for Budget Energy customers
Budget Energy customers in Northern Ireland may have been left with questions following the announcement that Flogas Ireland has finalised an agreement to purchase the electricity supplier.
The Consumer Council is shedding some light into what the acquisition means for consumers.
Paulino Garcia, Head of Energy Policy at The Consumer Council, told Newry Times, “The Consumer Council has spoken to representatives from Budget Energy and Flogas on behalf of consumers.
“The companies confirmed that they will not be changing the terms and conditions of existing contracts in the near future, including the prices that customers are paying.
“The Consumer Council welcomes the assurances that Flogas and Budget Energy have given to ensure the rights of existing customers remain unchanged.
“We will work with both companies over the coming weeks to ensure the interests of their customers are represented throughout this process.
“Consumers who have any specific concerns about the acquisition can contact Budget Energy directly on 0800 012 1177.
“Or you can speak to The Consumer Council independent advisors on 0800 121 6022,” Paulino added.
