Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Newry household recycling centres to close immediately

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has said that Household Recycling Centres across the district will be closing from 5pm this evening.

Council said they will close until further notice.

This decision, they said, will free up resources needed to maintain domestic refuse collection services.

It will, they said, help ensure compliance with government social distancing guidance.

Writing on their Facebook page, Newry Council stated, “Please store your recyclable items at home until we re-open.

“Fly-tipping outside Household Recycling Centres is prohibited and CCTV remains in operation.

“If you have any queries, please contact us at recycling@nmandd.org

“We will endeavour to respond to you as quickly as we can.

“Please also monitor the Council’s website and social media channels to be kept informed of further updates regarding the provision of services,” they added.
