Possible link between spate of Newry burglaries
Police are appealing for information following the report of a number of burglaries at three properties on the Shinn Road, Newry in the early hours of the morning on Friday, 31 January.
Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Constable Middleton said, “We received a report at 6.55 am that sometime between 11:30 on Thursday, 30 January and 6:55 am on Friday morning, entry was gained to another property on the Shinn Road.”

A vehicle and a sum of cash was taken.
He continued, “Sometime overnight, it was reported that entry had been gained to another property on the Shinn Road and it was ransacked.
“It is not believed anything was taken during the incident.
“We received a further report that at around 12:15 am an unknown male had attempted to gain entry to a different property on the Shinn Road.
“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, police are investigating a link between these incidents.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incidents or who saw any suspicious vehicles, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 22 of 31/01/20, 115 of 31/01/20 and 217 of 31/01/20.”
He added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
