Newry beauty businesses are winners at inaugural Beauty Excellence Awards
Two of Newry’s salons and clinics have been rewarded at the inaugural NI Beauty Excellence Awards.
Scissor Sisters Camlough took home the award for Hair Salon of the Year, while Zen Orthodontics were Highly Commended in the Cosmetics Dental Practice of the Year.
Hosted by Pamela Ballantine at the Crowne Plaza, Belfast, the awards were professionally and independently judged by a local panel of experts; Linda Stinson, co-founder and director of Bellamianta Tan; Pamela Smyth, Emmy Award-winning makeup designer and founder of The Makeup Department; Katrina Doran, skincare specialist and makeup artist; Paul Stafford, Stafford Hair and Dr Mervyn Patterson, Medical Director at Woodford Medical.
Dr John Rainey MBE, Chairman of Denman International – producer of the famous Denman hairbrushes – was also honoured for his contribution to the beauty industry thanks to his decades of experience and management at Denman.
Other well-known individuals and businesses rewarded on the night were Shankey Male Grooming for Barber/Male Grooming Establishment, Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort for Hotel Spa of the Year, Charlotte Tilbury’s Belfast Team for Makeup Studio of the Year and He-Shi Tan for Beauty Product of the Year.
Several independent salons and academies were also rewarded throughout the categories including Cinch Clinic in Holywood for Aesthetics Clinic to Watch, The Beauty School for Training School/Academy of the Year, Elanna McGowan AKA Elle Pearls as Beauty Blogger/Influencer of the Year and east Belfast’s Urban Beauty & Skincare Centre which took home the Beauty and Skincare Salon of the Year award.
Over 400 people who make up the thriving hair, aesthetics and beauty industry here attended the event which was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland to be judged independently, with the exception of the Beauty Blogger/Influencer category, which was decided by the readers of Belfast Live.
Jack Pack, the UK’s biggest swing band and Britain’s Got Talent stars, gave a special surprise performance to kick off proceedings, and topped it off with a full set of their greatest hits.
Event Director Sarah Weir says such accolades have been proven to enhance business for finalists and winners, commenting; “The inaugural NI Beauty Excellence Awards have been fantastic, from our judges to the standard of entries, and of course the impressive businesses and individuals who were finalists and won awards this year.”
