‘Consider your postal options’ as Royal Mail announce price increases
The Consumer Council is advising consumers to consider their postal options, as price increases from Royal Mail for letters and parcels went live from Monday 25 March 2019.
The price of a first class stamp will increase to 70p (from 67p) while a second class stamp will increase to 61p (from 58p).
Many parcel prices have also gone up. First and Second class stamps bought before are still valid and can be used.
Kellin McCloskey, Head of Postal Services at The Consumer Council said, “Following the price increase that went live from Monday 25 March, we are advising consumers to consider sending non-urgent letters and parcels by second class post to save money.
“In addition, there are other ways you can save money when sending parcels. You may be able to save money by paying for your Royal Mail parcel services on their website, as some prices are cheaper online.
“You could also save money by shopping around. Look at what other parcel companies have to offer, as depending on what you are sending they may be a cheaper alternative,” Kellin added.
