Dr Clements receives OBE Honour
The Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) have congratulated its Chair, Dr Ian Clements, on being awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
HSCB Chief Executive Valerie Watts said it was a very fitting tribute to Dr Clements, who had made an exceptional contribution to both Health and Social Care (HSC) and the wider community for nearly 40 years.
“This is a very well deserved honour for Dr Clements who, as a GP and as a commissioner, has helped make significant improvements to a wide range of services over the years, enhancing the care and quality of life for many people,” she told Newry Times.
“Throughout his career, and as Chair of the HSCB, Dr Clements has been a leading advocate of closer integration between primary, community, hospital and specialist services, and his commitment to putting patients and service users first has led to some really innovative services being introduced.”
Dr Clements said that he felt humbled to receive the OBE. “I would like to accept this honour on behalf of everyone in the HSCB and across the HSC, Primary, Secondary and Community Care, that I have had the pleasure to work with for nearly 40 years.
He added, “It is their tireless effort and commitment that has ensured steady and continuing improvement in patient care.”
