Southern Trust paediatric surgery situation ‘completely unacceptable’
Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has said that the delay by the Southern Trust in providing paediatric surgery is completely unacceptable.
The MP, who met with the Southern Health Trust to discuss the issue said, “Children’s Theatres in both Craigavon and Daisy Hill Hospitals have not been running at full capacity.
“This is a completely unacceptable situation which needs to be rectified as a matter of urgency.”
The local representative continued, “Reports state that as many as 100 families have been affected. This no doubt has caused those involved huge stress and frustration.
“It is quite obvious that there has been a breakdown in communication between the Trust and those families awaiting treatment.”
Brady added, “Whilst the Trust has apologised for “distress and convenience involved” what is actually needed is a full explanation into how this situation was allowed to develop and an outline on actions taken on how the issue will be addressed and resolved.
“In the meantime, anyone who is concerned should contact 02837562495 for advice and information.”
