Brady meets Labour MEPs on Brexit implications
Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has welcomed a delegation of Labour MEP’s who are visiting the North to assess the implications of Brexit.
The Newry/Armagh MP thanked the delegation for their interest and for taking the time to ‘”see and hear the harsh reality of Brexit for the island of Ireland’.
He told Newry Times, “We very much welcome the interest of these Labour MEPs and today was a good opportunity for them to hear the catastrophic impact that Brexit and a hard border would have on the island of Ireland.
“Their interest is further evidence that the intense lobbying and campaigning by Sinn Fein MEPs in Brussels, Dublin and London has alerted many politicians to the enormous damage that Brexit threatens to bring to Ireland generally and border communities in particular.
“Unlike David Davis, whose pathetic box ticking visit was universally ridiculed, I hope this Labour delegation will take our concerns on board and use their influence to ensure our interests are protected in the Brexit negotiations.”
