‘Subcontractors must not lose out in Carillion collapse’ – Brady
Local subcontractors in the construction industry must not be forced under due to the collapse of British construction giant Carillion, Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has said.
The Newry & Armagh MP told Newry Times, “In recent days I have been in contact with several construction workers who are fearful of their future and livelihoods following the collapse of Carillion.
“I have been in touch with both the Housing Executive and PriceWaterhouseCoopers in order to determine the uncertain future of subcontracts let by Carillion.
He added, “It is simply unjust that massive corporate bonuses are paid to Carillion executives who oversaw a financial collapse that could seriously impact upon the local construction industry.”
