Ulster Unionist Assembly Member Danny Kennedy is due to meet with officials from the Department for the Economy to discuss the provision of broadband services in the Newry & Armagh Constituency.

broadband2Kennedy raised ongoing concerns about inadequate broadband provision in rural areas of the Constituency with the Economy Minister and has now been offered a meeting with Departmental officials to discuss this matter in more detail.

Kennedy said, “I am pleased that the Economy Minister has accepted my request to meet with senior officials from his Department to discuss the issue of broadband provision in the Newry & Armagh Constituency.

“There are genuine concerns being raised by many rural householders across the Constituency regarding the clear deficiency in broadband provision in these areas and they are understandably anxious for necessary improvements to be carried out to the network locally.

“It is vital that the broadband network in rural areas is developed at the earliest opportunity given the negative effect the lack of connectivity is having on the daily lives of residents and rural/agricultural businesses in particular.
