Local charities raise £3000 through Buttercrane activities
Buttercrane Shopping Centre’s nominated charities celebrated this week after they raised some £3,000 through recent in-centre activities.
PIPS, Samaritans and Michaela Foundation were selected as the centre’s nominated charities at the start of the year following an application process.
The funds were generated through a range of activities hosted in or by the centre over the last 6 months and included Awareness Days; a Doll Collection Sale; a Lego Firewalk Challenge; Change for Charity initiative; Share the Love Valentine’s promotion and an ongoing auction of signed NI and ROI Euro Football jerseys.
Speaking to Newry Times, Peter Murray, Centre Manager said, “The relationship with local charities is very valuable to Buttercrane, showing we support our local communities.
“The benefit for the organisation in terms of publicity and fundraising is invaluable and we’re delighted to be able to facilitate that. We’d like to thank all our customers who supported our nominated charity events,” he added.
Paddy Mallon from Samaritans added, “During our Awareness Day and other activities on the Mall the amount of goodwill we received from the shoppers in the mall was magnificent and we raised significant sums which we were not expecting.
