Killowen Road safety improvements
South Down SDLP MLA Seán Rogers has welcomed the road works which are currently on site in Killowen.
Speaking to Newry Times, Rogers said, “3 years ago, I met with the then Roads Service, now Transport NI, and raised my very real road safety concerns in relation to the growing need for a footpath to connect the Killowen Outdoor Centre with Rostrevor.
“This issue has remained on my radar since and I continued to press Senior Officials. I am now delighted to see these works begin on site.
The current scheme will include the construction of 170m long footway which will connect the Outdoor Centre to the existing footpath which leads to Rostrevor.
These works will cost in the region of £40k.

Rogers added, “This is a much needed extension and will, without doubt, be of huge community benefit. I wish to thank Officials within Transport NI with particular praise for Cindy Noble who has been involved in my representations since the outset.”
