‘Brucellosis lift good for farmers’ – Fearon
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has welcomed the final hurdle on testing of cattle for brucellosis being lifted.
The South Armagh MLA said the move would be good for farmers here. “I welcome the announcement that from the 1st February all cattle will be free to be exported without having to go through the rigorous testing for brucellosis.
“This lifting of this last restriction will undoubtedly save farmers and the Department of Agriculture money that can be invested elsewhere. The Minister Michelle O’Neill needs to be congratulated for achieving this milestone in making cattle here some of the safest in the world.
Fearon added, “However, we cannot be complacent so I also welcome her determination to keep our industry disease free.”
