Concerns over street lighting in Bessbrook, Camlough and Lislea
Sinn Fein Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has expressed her concern over the number of residents throughout the Camlough, Bessbrook and Lislea areas who have been plunged into darkness with the onset of early evenings and no streetlighting.
“It would appear that we now have significant areas within our villages that have been left with no street lighting,” she said.
“Many of these faults have been reported several times over the last few weeks and indeed months. The failure to repair these lights has lead to safety concerns for our children, pedestrians and our older residents.
“The condition of our roads in South Armagh is totally unacceptable, as a councillor I am constantly reporting huge, potentially dangerous potholes, none of which ever seem to get repaired.
Mulgrew added, “The failure to report and maintain our roads and street lighting must be addressed as a matter of urgency.”
