Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “The Narrow Water Bridge is a major capital project that can be the catalyst of economic regeneration for the South Down and North Louth region. “Sinn Féin are determined in seeing this bridge delivered and transforming the opportunities for businesses, including the tourist industry in the area. “Despite many promises from various Irish Government ministers over the past few years we have seen a failure of leadership from that Government in delivering the project despite other monies including a huge grant from the Special EU Programmes Body having been secured. She added, “I am now calling on the Irish Government to step up to the plate and re-engage with all the relevant bodies in order to see the project completed in the very near future.”
