Rural communities urged to apply for Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme
Newry and Armagh MLA Megan Fearon is encouraging rural communities to apply for the Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme.
The South Armagh representative said the scheme could offer vital funds to community organisations.
“DARD Minister Michelle O’Neill has officially launched the second phase of the Rural Micro Capital Grant Programme and I would encourage all community groups in the area to investigate the scheme,” she said.
“There is over £200,000 available through the programme, which is just one element of DARD’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation Framework.
“Grants of between £200 and £1,500 are available to rural community-led, voluntary organisations towards the cost of capital equipment, improvement of a capital asset or extending the useable life of a capital asset.
“These funds could prove vital to many of the wonderful voluntary groups we have across south Armagh who do excellent community work,” she insisted.
“Phase 2 of the Programme is now open for applications and will close at noon on Friday the 30th October. I would highly encourage them to log on to the DARD website as soon as possible and get their application started.”
Information on applying is available at www.dardni.gov.uk/rural-micro-capital-grant-programme-2015 or by calling the County Down Rural Community Network on 028 4461 2311.
