Letters to the Editor, ‘Appreciation for Daisy Hill staff after recent procedure’
Dear Editor,
I would like to relate my recent experience at Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry, especially with the Welfare Cuts looming.
I had to attend Daisy Hill for a Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy last Thursday.
To say I was anticipating this with trepidation was an understatement, especially after listening to various horror stories. I have to say I could not fault the care or service I received; it was second to none.
This all took place in part of the new building, it was fresh, new and scrupulously clean.
After waiting for a period of time I was served tea and toast to make sure my swallow reflex had returned to normal. At no time did I feel like a patient, I felt like part of an extended little family.
All the staff should be commended for their sterling work. They made a potential fearful situation more bearable. I was treated with the utmost dignity, respect, polite, and caring attitude. All the staff were brilliant and this is just to let them know that they are appreciated and valued.
I feel that these hard working people do not get the thanks they deserve.
To anyone having to get the same procedures done, my advice would be; take the spray and sedation and it really isn’t that bad!
Big thanks to all involve.
A happy and appreciative Newry patient.
