Local students enter the Dragons Den
Students from Newtownhamilton High School have been working with local charity Young Enterprise and Ulster Bank to start a business through the QuickStart programme.
Year 9 students have started 4 companies with the charity developing skills for life and work through this hand-on enterprise experience with the support of volunteer business advisers from local businesses.
The exciting enterprise programme finished with a Dragons’ Den style event where each of the companies pitched their ideas to a panel of local business experts.
The QuickStart programme is supported by Ulster Bank. Anne Morgan from the bank’s Newry branch, oversaw the pitches and deliberated on the school’s winning company.
Rural Retailers took the main prize with their business that sold handmade knitwear and sweetie-jar gifts.
