Police issue warning after attempted theft at Newry coffee shop
Police in Newry are asking business owners to ensure staff rooms and storage areas are secured following an attempted theft.
On Saturday evening, 16th May, three males entered a coffee shop in Newry.
Two of the males entered a storage/staff area and were found by staff going through bags. Nothing was taken and the men left the premises.
Speaking to Newry Times, Sergeant Paul Ferguson said, “We would like business owners and staff to be mindful of any gaps in their security.
“You should ensure that staff areas and prohibited areas are securely locked and that access can only be gained by staff members. It could also be worth considering CCTV for your business premises. If possible, do not bring valuable items to work.
He added, “If you would like more crime prevention advice you can contact your local crime prevention officer on 101.”
