Four males sought by police after fire incident
Local police are appealing for information after a fire was started in woods in Annalong.
At around midday on Tuesday, 7th April, four males were observed lighting a fire in woods in Annalong Valley, close to Milligan’s Lane.
Constable Nigel Crone explained, “The four males made off in two cars – one of the vehicles was white and one was green, both were possibly Suzuki Jimnys.
“Fire has the potential to cause widespread damage to the environment and harm to wildlife, as well as threatening homes and farms in the area.
“The unpredictability of fire can also mean that those setting them may be putting their own lives at risk as well as the lives of the fire service personnel and other emergency services tasked to deal with them.
“There can also be untold consequences to tying up crucial emergency resources that may be needed elsewhere.
He added, “We are asking for the community’s help in identifying those involved in this recent incidents. We can be contacted in Kilkeel on 101, quoting ref: 551 070415.”
