Newry police arrest two men for handling stolen goods
Police in Newry have arrested a man for handling goods stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
Police received a report of a white Toyota Avensis parked close to a school on Chequer Hill around 1pm on Wednesday, 18th March.
Two men travelling in the car urinated close to the school before driving off. Officers made some enquiries and discovered that the car had been stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
Details of the vehicle were circulated to patrols and the car was stopped on Dublin Road at 9.50pm on 18th March.
The 51 year old male driver was arrested for being drunk in charge and handling goods stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.
