Call for united Daisy Hill Hospital campaign
Sinn Féin Group Leader on Newry & Mourne Council Mickey Ruane has appealed for a united campaign to challenge what he says many view as the focused reduction of services in Daisy Hill Hospital.
“A recent discussion in the Council Chamber on the important issue of Daisy Hill Hospital and the loss of the specialised Stroke Unit in my view deteriorated into the beating of chests and an ugly blame game,” he told Newry Times.
“People don’t want “huff and puff” politics, they want to see leadership from this Council as a civic body. I believe all representatives on the Council genuinely care about the future of Daisy Hill and we should not be distracted by blame games.”
The Sinn Féin elected representative confirmed that the Council was in the process of facilitating a Public Meeting in relation to concerns about the loss of services in Daisy Hill.
