Vigilance urged after fake notes incident
Fews area Sinn Féin Councillor Barra Ó Muirí has warned businesses and shopkeepers in the Newtownhamilton area to be vigilant after it transpired that counterfeit notes were in circulation in the area.
The local Councillor explained, “On Sunday evening past attempts were made to pass off counterfeit notes.
“Staff in some of the premises contacted each other and the PSNI were called. Several arrests have been made,” he revealed.
Commending all involved for their vigilance and response the local Sinn Féin elected representative continued, “I commend all involved for their alertness and vigilance. This is the right sort of community response to those thieves who are determined to steal from our homes and businesses.
“As the winter evenings are now upon us I would appeal to all communities to be extra vigilant especially between now and Christmas and to keep a “close eye” not only on their own property and premises but their neighbours, especially the older and more vulnerable ones.”
