Mulgrew urges caution on country roads
Fews area councillor Roisin Mulgrew has urged vigilance for vehicles travelling on country roads.
Cllr Mulgrew explained, “I have been contacted by several people in recent days to warn about the dangers of animals straying onto country roads and endangering the lives of motorists.
“On one specific incident an animal was killed and a vehicle badly damaged. We need to raise awareness of the dangers which face motorists, especially as this year has seen a marked increase in the number of road deaths.
She added, “I would urge all animal owners to check their property to ensure that fences and gateways are intact and secure. As the dark evenings approach we all need to do that little bit extra to ensure that everyone is safe. I would also ask drivers to be aware of hidden dangers and reduce speed especially on unlit country roads.”
