New mountain bike centre announced for Kilbroney Park

Crotlieve Sinn Féin Councillor Mick Murphy has welcomed the news that the East Border Region has awarded the tender to build a £500,000 new reception and events facility for mountain bikers at Kilbroney Park.

“I am delighted to say the funding has come through for this vital project and the East Border Region has now awarded the tender to build it,” Councillor Murphy told Newry Times.

“Along with my colleague, local Sinn Fein spokesman Mark Gibbons, I would like to say how delighted I am at this news.

“It will build on the world-class mountain biking trail and facilities already in the park and help bring even more visitors to this part of Newry and Mourne.

“It’s wonderful to see the true potential of Kilbroney Park now being realised in a way few would have believed possible just a few years ago,” he added.
